#thestruggleistooreal is a project that intends to raise awareness about the one crisis we all face - climate change. For this situation to change we would need to change our ways of living, however, this is something nobody is really willing to do since it would mean a slightly lower living standard. But if we would think about our ridiculously high standards, we might realize how absurd they are at the same time. This ridiculousness of our first world problems is the theme of this project. By pointing out absurd complaints, we intend to make people realize that it might not be such an impossibility to lower our standards.
By complaints like „The water is too wet“, „The ice is too cold“ and „The air is too fresh“ we intend to draw attention to how minimal and unnecessary some of our first world problems are but also to the fact that these natural resources are not valued enough. These resources, amongst many others, are intoxicated, misused and taken for granted.
The outcome of this project are animated as well as static posters. These can be found on thechangeclub.at, an online gallery that we’ve co-created. The static posters have been printed and hung up in the streets of Graz, Austria. Moreover, brochures about the project have been designed, printed and handed out to people of Graz. Finally, and with complying to all corona-related hygene regulations, the project could be shown at the urban art festival in October in Graz.
